Prepware ATP App Reviews

Good but not great

Very good for studying on the go, but charts and graphs are not scalable, and very difficult to read on the iPhone. Would have gotten 5 stars if this problem was fixed.

Needs some fixes

First off, convenient to have on the iPad. BUT, the graphics are very low resolution and I have a hard time reading details in the charts for the questions. Also, portrait mode cuts off parts of the answers, so you have to change to landscape just to read the complete answer choice. Fix those two issues and Id be a happy camper. Everything else is great.

Buggy; not worth $10.

Get with it ASA! In study mode, if you have to leave the app (phone call, text msg, break), and return later, the instant feedback stops. You have to exit and reenter to reenable the feedback. Then, you loose your place. VERY ANNOYING!!! Also, the figures are nice, but zooming in & out is cumbersome to say the least. Biggest problem: ITS BEEN LIKE THIS FOR OVER A YEAR!!! Get with it ASA!

Great APP

Besides some issues with pfd/mfd graphics not working, and some answers not allowing for scanning to show full answer this is a great app. With it alone I easily banged out a 90 on the FAA test.

wrong answers

Beware there are questions with the wrong answers. ASA is slipping

Its good but could be better

The resolution on the images are actually pretty good. The test mode is good. The practice mode needs work. The could have a learning mode with just the correct answer and maybe some options for practice test with fewer than 80 questions. Im not terribly disappointed but Im not loving it enough to justify $9.99.

Good but not great

I really wish there was a way to save missed questions or at least list the test question numbers of missed questions. It is good for just taking the test but it doesnt save the missed one to help you study. I hope they fix this.

Wishing for more

Wish there was a way to select certain questions just like on the computer. Get to choose only the ones I need to study.

Good setup; needs minor bug fixes

Overall good app. Some thing that really need to be fixed is the ability to see all answers completely shown. Right now the most I can see is just the first 3 lines of text for each answer, and some are longer than that. Also, some way to save missed questions and study sessions would be great. Really great platform to make a great app with some small fixes and added features.

Does the job

Being a cheap airline pilot, i was looking for the cheapest way to study for my atp. The actual books are $25-35, so when i saw this app for $10, i gave it a shot. I took my test today and scored 93%. Some of the graphics are a little cumbersome to work with on the iphone screen, but thats not really the fault of the app. Some previous reviewers said that the instant feedback (green=correct answer) doesnt work if you leave the app in the middle of a study section and then return to the same section to complete it. It is true...if you leave and then select the app from the home screen the instant feedback doesnt come back on. BUT...when you want to resume, double tap the home button and select the app from the bottom of the screen (the multi-tasking area, i think) and the instant feedback will work without a problem. Hope this review wasnt too confusing and that it helps somebody out.

ATP

I accidentally downloaded this one and the Dauntless groundschool version they both have the same amount of questions. They both let you pick test you want to study. They both have a quiz feature that I havent used yet. So I deleted the other one and went with the cheaper one.

Its ok

Just took my ATP written and passed. I only used this program to study, which is the upside. The downside is most of the questions in this program did not show up on the test I took. Friends I have that used other prepware most all questions on their tests were already seen on the products they used. I passed and learned a lot but as a pure prepware I would not recommend this program over others.

Books are better

For an app to win me over vs. using ATP test prep books, I would expect the app to keep track of my sessions, remember which questions Ive missed overall so I can go back to them, and save my progress if I completely quit the app. This doesnt. It also cant generate study sessions with a defined number of questions. The figures display nicely, but the app doesnt show you the legends that would normally be available. Some questions refer to figures but the figures dont exist. The worst part of the app is that several ATP questions and answers are long, and they dont fit on this apps screen, so you cant read the whole thing and therefore cant answer the question. I wouldnt recommend this series of apps. Stick with books.

You cant keep track of your progress

I believe that this app would be like the prepware website but this thing is way more simple. You cant select the number of question you want to answer, and this app dont keep a track of your progress. But still a good tool to study in your free time and the price its affordable.

Ok but some glitches

Sometimes cant see some figures/diagrams--they dont show up at all. Also would be nice to see diagrams at same time as questions in a split screen.

Good for on the go but need to be able to see graphics alongside questions.

To switch back and forth between graphics and questions is a challenge at times. Would be nice to see an iPad version that incorporates this. As for on the iPhone, you have very little real-estate to work with so it wouldnt work anyway to change that. Every now and then it will not allow you see a graphic. Overall it is a great way to study while you are on the go.

Save your money!!!

Basically, its an antiquated list of the old bank of questions. THE FAA HAS CHANGED HUNDREDS OF QUESTIONS RECENTLY. I took the ATP written today and this app/the actual ASA books only share perhaps 75% of the test questions currently used. Also, the app does not save your progress or in any way act "smart". The study mode is terrible. Your only options are to work through hundreds of questions randomly arranged within large topic groups. You cant work subgroups or make your own quizzes of problem areas. Until the industry figures out the new FAA test Id wait to buy anything personally. Typical FAA, poorly written test with little relevance to actual practical knowledge. And yes, I did pass:)

Bad update... Fix The iPhone App

With the new update, you can not see the complete question and the complete answer even when you rotate the iPhone.... Please: FIIIIX IT

Missing questions?

Great app. Test and question format is just like the CBT test itself at the testing center. HOWEVER, do not expect this app to contain ALL FAA questions. Other than that, you can study anywhere and anytime.

None

APP looses its place. If left open, sometimes returns to where you stopped. Sometimes not. Irritating to have to start a section over with some having 200 questions or more
